My name is Alexandre Maurice. I photograph landscapes, for now those of the Pyrenees; other regions will follow.
First, I love beauty, das sinnliche Scheinen der Idee, as it is fulfilled in art. Although nature is not art, it impresses me just as much: faced with great landscapes, what I see is the sublime. I try to stay faithful to the place while putting into it what I saw there.
Alongside this, I studied computer science, first software engineering, then theory. I'm finishing a master's degree in Bordeaux. My CV is here.

I wanted a place to show my photos, where I choose how they are seen. To give them a lasting home: landscapes change, and each photo keeps the state of a place at a given moment. It is an act of remembrance, in my own small way.
As for the look, I like sober, almost austere pages that load quickly and can be browsed effortlessly. The best things I have found online were on sites considered ugly, run by enthusiasts who simply had something to share. The site should be a tool serving the content, not the other way around.
I built it myself with MongoDB, Angular, Node.js and Express, and it runs on a VPS that I manage entirely. No ads, no cookies, and no tool tracking visitors. Its source code is here, and its API documentation there.
